Wait…how does this work well for both singles and couples?
There are groups for both in LA, OC, and SD. As well as “all member” groups. Whether you’re single or in a relationship I recommend joining the group that fits your status as well as the all member group in your city.
You will have access to every group in southern CA when you join. The last thing I want this network to be is restricting. You can join or leave groups in the network anytime if your status or city changes. Cater the experience to the kind of community you’re building.
Are the Singles Only groups a dating app?
No. There is no swiping or matching. It is meant to be a community and social networking app first, but with the hopes you find a romantic spark with another single through the network. Please let things happen organically. Just be respectful if someone isn't interested — this is a community first.
What if I join single and then find my person?
We LOVE that for you and we’ll all be celebrating! Please send us the wedding invite. You can always leave any single groups and join couple groups. Same goes for if you leave LA and move to OC to start your family.
What makes this different than 222, Meetups, or other in person dating events?
Think of SO like a Facebook for singles or couples in your area — more freedom, more autonomy, more ways to connect. You can DM before meeting, join existing events, or start your own. Who wants to come to this concert? Anyone free Friday? Low monthly cost, no extra fees unless you're joining something outside of SO.
What can I expect inside the group(s)?
You can expect to create a profile and update your bio with your interests. This helps others who come across your profile. The app will also show you others who have similar interests and help you connect.
There will also be weekly prompts and challenges to interact with, gatherings scheduled, and the freedom to share, post, and interact with a community feed. As the community and app grows, so will the experience and offerings. That’s why the first 100 founding members are free for life. 😎
What if I want to join to participate on posts or local in person events, but want to avoid DMs 🙈
You can turn off DMs and change your privacy settings so that others can’t message you. We don’t recommend this, but you have options if you start to feel overwhelmed.
I also recommend you leave and/or turn off settings in the groups you aren’t using. Keep it as simple as possible.
You can hangout in the group to see posts, join discussions, and keep your eyes on any meetups or events. I get it, I like the in person stuff most too. That’s why I designed this app.
